Theft and Dua for Recovery

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

dear brother,

ASLAMVALAIKUM,
I AM WRITING ABOUT AN INCIDENCE THAT TOOK PLACE IN MY HOUSE-LAST WEEK A THIEF ENTERED MY HOUSE AND TOOK AWAY A
LOT OF MT WIFES JEWELERY AND MONEY THAT WAS KEPT IN THE ALMIRAH.

AS THIS INSIDENCE IS BEING HEARD BY VARIOUS FRIENDS AND RELATIVES, EACH ONE IS ADVISING SOME OR OTHER SORT OF PRAYERS(duas) TO BE READ AT NORMAL TIMES, AND ALSO ALONG OR AFTER THE NAMAAZ, DURING THE DAY,SOME RECCOMEND THAT U MUST ASK allah TO RECOVER UR LOST ITEMS AFTER TAHAJUDH. ALL THIS IS VERY CONFUSING, WOULD PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS SUBJECT.

SHOULD ONE MAKE SPECIAL DUAS/PRAYERS FOR THE LOST ITEMS, OR SHOULD ONE PRAY SINCERELY TO ALLAH AND SEEK HIS HELP, AS ALWAYS,NORMALLY.

PLEASE GUIDE ME,I WILL BE VERY GRATEFUL.

Theft and Dua for Recovery

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,  no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The guidance that Islam gives is that one should guard his life and his property and secure them in the best manner available to them; and then put their trust in Allah Subhanah.

If your property is stolen, you may use all the legal means to recover your stolen property; and supplicate Allah Subhanah to help you in recovering the property.   Whatever calamity befalls a believer, if he is patient and is steadfast in his trial, and puts his trust in Allah Subhanah; Allah will replace what he has lost with a better provision, and give him a huge reward in the Hereafter.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 155-157: 155     Be sure, We shall test you with something of fear, and hunger, some loss in goods or lives, or the fruits (of your toil); but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.

156    Who say when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah we belong and to Him is our return."

157    They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance.

Thus brother, the best supplication a believer can make when afflicted by a trial or loss,  is to say:  ‘To Allah we belong,  and to Him is our return’,  and be patient and steadfast,  and put your trust in Allah Alone.  Allah will, if He Pleases, replace what you have lost with a better provision, and grant you a huge reward for your patience in the life of the Hereafter.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
