In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: Just I would like to know that the meaning of the name "Adiyan" or "Adyan"
If the name ‘Adyan’ starts with the Arabic alphabet ‘Alif’, then the term ‘Adyan’ would be a plural of the Arabic term ‘Deen’ which basically means religion or way of life; thus Adyan would mean religions.
If the name Adyan starts with the Arabic alphabet ‘Ayn’, then to the best of our knowledge there is no particular meaning of this term in the Arabic language.
Your Question: It is a muslim name or not?
Beloved Brother, there is no such thing as a ‘muslim’ name; for one is recognized as a believer in the sight of Allah Subhanah because of his belief and deeds, not because of his name.
Your Question: If it is a muslim name can we put the name to our children?
If one wishes to name their child ‘Adyan’, it would be a perfectly acceptable name in Islam. If the question was ‘is it a good name?’, then we would advice that there are plenty of better names one may keep for their children.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood adith 4932 Narrated by Abu Wahb al-Jushami
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘Call yourselves by the names of the Prophets. The names dearest to Allah are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahman, the truest are Harith and Hammam, and the worst are Harb and Murrah.’
The best names are the ones that show one’s absolute submission to Allah Subhanah (like Abdullah, Abdur-Rahmaan, Abdur-Razzak, Abdul-Ghaffar, etc.), then the names of the Prophets of Allah (like Mohamed, Isa, Musa, Ibraheem, etc.), then the names of the noble companions of the Messenger of Allah (saws) (like Abu-Baqr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, etc.) and then any name or term which does not have a bad meaning or connotation; all such names are perfectly acceptable in Islam.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
