Answer:

Was the Holy Quran revealed to the prophet on the night of Miraaj?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,  no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The Holy Quran was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (saws) by ‘wahy’ or inspiration,  in parts and stages over a span of 23 years;   and not on the Night Journey or the Night of Israa wal Mairaaj.

According to the Quran and many authentic traditions of the Messenger of Allah (saws),  the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet (saws) in the Night of Qadr,  which is in the month of Ramadan.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 97 Surah Al-Qadr verse 1: We have indeed revealed this (Quran) in the Night of Qadr.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Israa verse 106: (It is) a Qur'an which We have divided (into parts from time to time),  in order that thou might recite it to men at intervals:   We have revealed it by stages.

To believe that the Glorious Quran was presented or revealed to the Messenger of Allah (saws) in complete form on the Night of Mairaaj is incorrect,  and not consistent with the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah.   In fact,  the Night of Mairaaj occurred one year before the Hijrah in Makkah;  and subsequently many Surahs of the Quran were revealed in the later years in Medina.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
