Tie is symbol of cross christianity.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan

AoA

All dresses of the world have three reasons to wear, climatic, religious and special purpose like sports, medical, battle etc.  If you have fourth category in mind please let me know.

My only and simple question based on logic is that if a dress does not fall in any two categories then it is implied that it has relevance with third category.  Tie is no way related with climatic or special purpose dress, then obviously it has connections with religious aspect. We being Muslims know there is no religious touch of Islam with Tie; naturally answer automatically comes to mind that it has religious touch but other than Islam. Applying mind further the intuitional capability of human being draws conclusion there are more chances of its association with Christianity with back drop of their belief that Hazrat Essa was given death sentence.

As sword on shoulder of Army personnel represents warier or Eagle on uniform of Air Force man denotes flying like hawk, similarly Gallows represent death sentence or death. Crescent & Star are associated with Muslims. You will find no flag of non Muslim counties with insignia as crescent & star.  So, tie is a commemorative item of the fate with which, according to Christians, Hazrat Essa met and we Muslims do not believe it.  So knowingly to dress up the turban by a Muslim like a Sikhs  will not be accepted by Ulema-e-Islam  then why Ulema are accepting the wearing of tie by Muslims whereas it is proved according to my logic that it has Christianity’s  hidden belief in it.

More over your Point – 5  ( The clothes worn must not be an imitation of the pagans or disbelievers) is sufficient to do away with tie.   Utilitywise also all dressess of the world ancient or modren has some utilisation effect but can you convince me of a single utility of tie. Therefore I suggest that prominet ulema of the age should hold Ijtihad to declare tie as haram or sin other wise we will have to believe that Hazrat Essa was made to die instead Allah lifted him to heavens, contrary to Quran, Nauzobillah. I shall anxiously wait for you to come back.

Wassalam

Answer:

Tie is symbol of cross christianity

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statement: All dresses of the world have three reasons to wear, climatic, religious and special purpose like sports, medical, battle etc.  If you have fourth category in mind please let me know.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 26:

26      O ye children of Adam! We have bestowed clothing upon you to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you; but the clothing of ‘taqwa’ (piety, righteousness, etc.) that is the best.  Such are among the Signs of Allah that they may receive admonition!

Respected brother, the believers are Commanded to not go to extremes in their deen; and frankly to accuse the wearing of a ‘tie’ as symbolic to the Christian religion would, in our humble opinion, be inaccurate to say the least.

Firstly, our Christian brethren falsely believe that Jesus Christ (a.s.) was crucified, not hanged!!!  And a tie, if at all it resembles anything, would resemble a noose, not a cross!

Secondly, if one studies the origin of the ‘tie’ as a garment, its origin is loosely found in the climatic category whereby it was used as an outer garment to keep the cold away.

Thirdly, if the ‘tie’ as claimed is specific to the Christian relgion, it would be worn by the Pope, Bishops, and the Christian religious fraternity, but obviously that is not so!

In our humble opinion, the ‘tie’ is an accepted form of formal and business attire across the whole world today and not specific to any belief or religion.  Thus if one who believes wishes to adorn oneself with a tie, he should be free to do so, and if one wishes to abstain, he should be free to do so.  And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
